River Construction - Phase 3

The river is basically made the same way as the stream on the mountain using the same four colors but I routed 1/4" out of the table top to give it depth. I also gave it a beach look with the plaster puddy and have desended into the water with a rock siding. The rock siding was a mixture of Woodland Scenics Talus extra coarse gray and a natural mixture from Michael's Arts and Crafts store. The sand you see on the river is a mix from my backyard and from Micheal's. This last image is the beginning of my evalated track setup. It is made of 1/4" plywood and will be supported by 7" doll rods.

Continuing the rock siding look, I have elevated the table base between the mountain and the river with an additional peice of cork and have filled in the area with additional rocks. I have added two additional colors to the river, Navy Blue and Turquoise, applied with a dry brush. I have also applied my first coat of polyurethane to the river to give it the real water look.

I have added some Woodland Scenics E-Z water (gel form) to the polyurenthane base and have began cleaning up. I have also put the track and bridges back in place. I need to add the water texture yet, meaning waves and ripples as well as build a incline to the track as it comes up to the bridges.

I did not like the look the Woodland Scenics E-Z water (gel form) gave me so I have reverted back to the Woodland Scenics E-Z water (bead form), which gave me the results I wanted. I have also added some water effects with Woodland Scenics Water Effects to get the white foam areas. I added some people, fishermen and swimmers, in the water for realism. These are all from Arttista Accessories.
